About My Territory

The Designer

MyTerritory.com is Eric's personal photo project. In real life I am a web developer and graphic designer. Contact me if you'd like to discuss this site, building other sites, photography, or anything else.

The Photos

I always keep a camera in my pocket, which has resulted in a collection of over 40,000 digital photos taken since December 2000. Only a small portion of these had been seen by family and friends in the first two versions of My Territory, and people are always asking, "Where are those photos?!"

The Site

In My Territory version III, I'm happy to present 201 photo galleries, all browsable by who was there, where it happened, why it happened and when it happened (Yes, this site was up long before iPhoto's "faces, places and events" addition). I'm happy to have now completed the original goal of sharing major events dating back to the start of my digital collection. In 2008, My Territory was nominated for a Webby Award in the Personal Website category.

For Geeks

From a technology side, I've used and combined a lot of my favorite apps and websites to make this site possible. They include: ExpressionEngine, SlideShowPro, iPhoto, Google Maps, Flash, FeedBurner, and for design, Photoshop.

The Cameras

Fuji FinePix 40i
From Dec 13, 2000 to Jan 1, 2005 the trusty Fuji snapped 16,322 photos. It survived being dropped in a bar, traveled to Greece, and finally called it quits after one last New Years Party.

Canon SD300
Brought in just 4 days later on Jan 5, 2005, the SD300 took well over 10,000 pictures.

Canon Powershot G5
The G5 was brought in for the big trips and events, and so far it has traveled to Kauai and Colorado.

Canon SD1000
My current pocket camera, the SD1000 has been to Wyoming and documented my my honeymoon.
